Yolanda Philippens lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium.
After an long period of creation of abstract oil paintings and using a lot of structure, which made her work very intensive, Yolanda made a move in her way of working. With her super creative mind and skills, she developed a new concept; with different materials. Yolanda Philippens started to collect old embroideries, with the idea to create a new way of using embroidery.
Her way of working is unique. She began to transform the smaller embroideries to contemporary works.
The limitation of the formats inspired her to look for a different technique to make these artworks bigger. The result is a series of works even up to sizes of 180×150. Yolanda uses different media in this series: photography, fabrics, threads, yarn, paint and she finished the artwork with epoxy. The result is particularly, working with a nod to the 60s, 70s, and yet very contemporary.
In many collections; private as well business you will find her abstract oil paintings and soon these new works as well.
